not a good idea - you can enter India with the Indian passport. How will you get back? Since you dont have a PR card anymore & havent got your Canadian passport as yet. Only way is for Canada consulate in India to issue you travel papers, which take ~3 months. So you wont be able to show...

he is travelling back to India on a non-expired Indian passport. Not sure what issue is worrying you.... once back, he can renew his passport in India which is a pretty quick process these days.

Canadian passport.. it does take 10-12 days to show up on the OCI website.

applied December 23rd... current status: "Surrender certificate has been granted and is available for issuance"; its been that way now for over a week. I would therefore suggest atleast 4-5 weeks for the surrender certificate to come through from the date of application in person.
