Thanks! As far as I understand the card was ready on Feb 11, 2016, as it expires on Feb 11, 2021 given that the cards are issued for exactly 5 years. so it took them 41 days to process it + 8 days mailing time (I am in ON). My husband's card has not been received though we landed the same day.

I landed on Jan 2, 2016, got my PR card on Friday (Feb 19). I thought I was gonna get it only in April!)) I wanted to update the spreadsheet data but did not figure out how. Is that possible at all? Still waiting for my husband's card.

I don't know about US addresses, but if you have mailing address in Canada and you send your passport copies, not actual passports, you get it back in about a week.

You can always call and check whether they received it.

yes, that's what we did. you go US border, they ask you to park and then show you the way. but make sure you talk to US border officers and get issued an "administrative refusal". otherwise there is no proof that you left Canada.

I don't think it depends on the officer... from what I understood the procedure is quite standard. If you send copies of your passports, you get it back in a week (+/- 2 days), if you send actual passports, you get it back in 15 days (also +/- 2-4 days).

Mine was sent on Dec 8 and received on Dec 9. So it took quit a while as well.

Quick update, my status has just changed to approved and closed. hopefully I'll get my passport back soon.

From my experience, "lawyers" are usually not as knowledgeable as they might present themselves and don't like to give any guarantees. That's why he/she told you it will take 4 weeks, just to be on a safe side. There are no official time frames for PR Visa issuance, and CIC agents cannot comment...
