I called BLS and they also said that its best not to travel in this scenario.

I was told that the 6 months rule is only for visitors. So technically with an OCI, it should not be an issue since I am not really a visitor in India.

Well, the catch is that I am already in India. I would need to travel to Dubai for a short trip and return to India on March 2. So renewing the passport in India is a hassle which I would like to avoid. I will be returning to Canada on March 9.

I am an OCI holder and need to travel to India on March 2, 2023. My passport will expire Aug 26, 2023. Will I be able to enter India? I am concerned since my passport validity would be less than 6 months at the time of entry into India.

I think atleast 1 week. In my case, we are flying 3 days from now and luckily today was Wednesday. The Consulate General in Toronto holds an open house every Wednesday from 3 PM onwards. So we went there and picked up the OCI ourselves.

I think you will be okay. Most people here see an update on their file 3 weeks after Date of Ack. So you should look for Visa application if there is no movement on your file by October 22.

Date of Acknowledgement is Sept 19

I am losing hope that I will get my OCI before Oct 15. Did anyone try applying for a Visa?
