Thanks for the replies!! I have a 'working holiday' visa which is about to expire in a matter of days, but also a student visa with a work permit, that expire in August. I wanted to get everything in before the first visa expired just to be safe. I haven't actually sent off my package yet...

So I've just submitted my application for residency under common law. Now I'm wondering whether I have to apply for an extension for my work permit with a IMM5710, or will I be ok to work, due to "implied status" while CIC are sorting out my application? Cheers
