Why move to Canada when I am a US Citizen?

As a US citizen going through the PR process, I have to say that I agree with you on almost everything kwyatt75 has to say. One point that I have not seen in this thread is small business. For an Ontario company with profits under $500,000, profit is only taxed at 15%. In the US, that would...

Leaving the U.S. to land in Canada in 16 days! Anyone have time for a once-over?

Thanks again. So, when I go to register the car in Ontario, they will not try to hit me up for sales tax? Just trying to dot my I's and cross my T's.

Leaving the U.S. to land in Canada in 16 days! Anyone have time for a once-over?

Great thread, and I thought I would resurrect it since I found it so useful. Does the "owning it for 6 months" rule apply for people who are becoming Permanent Residents? We are considering a vehicle upgrade and trying to decide if we should do it in the States where taxes are less. Thanks!

    FEBRUARY 2015 OUTLAND

February 17 applicant, still no AOR. Have any February applicants successfully called the CIC to ask what's going on? If anyone has the number handy, I'd appreciate it.

Cheap Canadian Dollar - Time to Exchange Currency?

I have not personally tried this, but you might look into "Norbert's Gambit". This is a method of transferring money using the stock market where you buy in one currency and sell in another. Supposedly it is basically free versus the 2% that TD will take. I'd post a link but the forum won't...

Questions about "visiting" Canada during application process

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure if will help me or not but I do have a NEXUS card, which should reduce the chances of having to talk to CBSA.

Questions about "visiting" Canada during application process

Hello, I just received my FBI background check and we are about to send in our outland application. I am a US citizen and my wife is Canadian citizen living in the US with a green card. A couple questions: 1) As a US citizen I know I can visit Canada for up to 6 months at a time. As long...

Baby coming- wait for application or do it now?

I am a US Citizen and my wife is a Canadian citizen. We have a daughter who has dual citizenship and another child on the way in a few weeks. We are planning a move to Canada and I am hoping to get my FBI history in a week or so (sent it in October). Since so many of the forms require...
