I would like to suggest to go for passport renewal withing this 3 months.. dont wait for MR.. its uncertain to tell when it will come.. apply passport on urgency basis so you'll get it soon. Anyways you'll have to renew your passport when you'll have to submit those for visa stamping..needs...

Dear you can directly call CIC customer care and ask for you UCI after giving your all details of application & personal details. Once you received your UCI then you can remove your consultant from the immigration process. hope its helpful.
