Thank you so much for your kind reply! Were you able to claim the foreign tax credit or did you end up having to pay more tax in Canada? Thanks again!

Filing Tax in both U.S. and Canada?

Hello – I’d like to file tax in both the U.S. and Canada this year, and I am wondering if anyone can offer some useful insights. I currently work in the U.S., have recently landed in Canada, and would like to start filing tax in Canada this year. I heard there is something called “Foreign Tax...

    No ECAS update after landing?

Hi All - I landed about 4 weeks ago, and I read that the application status should change from "Decision Made" to "Completed" after landing. However, mine still says "Decision Made" and no further update has been made. Should I be concerned that the status hasn't changed? Does everyone's online...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

I totally understand your growing impatience (and those of others who are in the same boat), and I still keenly remember how frustrating the wait was for me. Having said that and now with the advantage of hindsight, I think we all need to realize that the visa officers who work at the HKVO (or...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

You're welcome. Based on the CAIPS notes other applicants have shared, it looks like the security check the VO runs is separate from PCCs. The VO might find it necessary to run additional and separate background and/or security checks for some applicants, even after medical results have been...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

It's true that all FSW applications got transferred from BJVO to HKVO in late March. This seems to have caused some delays for applicants whose files got transferred, but from what I've seen, not so much for those who originally applied to HKVO. As your second round of medical exam did not get...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

Thanks so much future_canadian! Well, the fact that HKVO doesn't provide tracking number will make the wait quite nerve-wrecking. I'm in the U.S. and the USPS is, well, let's not even get started. :( Can you please let me know approximately how many days since you sent in your passport did the...

Thank you!! Do you know if they provide email notification/tracking number when they send the passport back? My local postal office is notorious, so this is making me nervous! ::)

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

Hello - I need to submit my passport to the HKVO, and just noticed that the addressed they provided in the email does not have a postal code? I don't live in HK so not sure if this is typical. Can someone please let me know if the address below is correct? Immigration Section Consulate General...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

I did mine in the States. You're right, looks like no one is really sending the info sheet to the VO. But my results were supposedly uploaded more than a week ago, and I still don't see any status update in the system. Quite frustrating. :(

Quick question regarding medical exam - I recently completed my medical exam, and at the end of the session, I was given a sheet titled "eMedical Information Sheet" with my IME # and picture on it. The doctor said that although the results will be uploaded electronically, I still need to send...

    Medical Exam Information Sheet?

Hello - I recently completed my medical exam, and at the end of the session, I was given a sheet titled "eMedical Information Sheet" with my IME # and picture on it. The doctor said that although the results will be uploaded electronically, I still need to send this sheet to the VO separately...

There are also a few applications who mailed out their passport in mid-January, and have not heard back. So yeah, until we can figure out what the heck is going on at HKVO, welcome to the waiting boat...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

The latest I saw was a 6/20 applicant getting a second-line update. That was about 3 weeks ago. You must be the next one in line, given you're only 6 days apart. Why would they take this long to get to someone whose application is only 6 days apart is the million-dollar question right now.

A lot of people are mentioning that in the Chinese forum. Selected BVJO on the application, then received AOR from HKVO...

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

It's actually the other way around. CIC has begun sending files of those applicants who selected BJVO to HKVO. Given HKVO's processing speed and supposed backlog, isn't this mind-boggling?

FSW 2014 HONG KONG VISA OFFICE

The processing speed is definitely baffling. Doesn't the HKVO have to also start processing Express Entry applications soon as well ? They are promising a 6-month turn-around, but with the current backlog, I just don't see how that's feasible. I think they will upset a lot of non-EE applications...
