PR Card expires in 5 years whether or not you spend 2 out of 5 years to maintain your PR eligibility. The PR Card then needs to be renewed for another 5 years if one still wants to remain on PR or if the citizenship requirements (4 out of 6 years) have not been met yet

You meant to say that to retain PR status, one has to stay for a period of 730 days (equivalent to 2 years) out of 5 years from date of grant of PR. In actual effect, PR does not expire. Rather you are deemed ineligible to hold your PR status if you have not stayed for the duration required
