They watch you move your lips and nothing else. No need to be able to speak the language at all. The oath is done both in French and English. I'm pretty sure most of the people don't know both and it is still not problem at all.

After you have Canadian citizenship you can even move to totally another country for rest of your life and you will still keep your citizenship. For rest of your life. You never lose citizenship. If you wouldn't be allowed to leave the country, for what would you need passport in the first place?

I did the oath yesterday and got Certificate of Canadian Citizenship in Scarborough. There were 300 participants and another 300 later the same day. I will apply passport on Friday and then I'm done with this. Good luck for everyone!
