Soooo we just finished our family sponsorship process.. got COPR and landed. It states that is valid for 10 years. As one would expect, 10 years isn't exactly "permanent"... how do we go about extending this should we choose not to get citizenship? Thanks!

It took me 1 month after this point. Each persons application is different though. Be patient, they wont forget about you!

I would send them a reply email asking wtf it is they want.. or maybe even call. thats really odd.

He will absolutely need to file for extension. They also prefer you do that a month before it expires. I'd be getting that done ASAP. it will be implied status while you are waiting for approval of the extension. However if you do not apply for an extension you must leave by the expiration date...
