Question about one of Bill-C24's requirements.

Is there a particular page where you read that, or is it just a guess ? If the years have to be consecutive then this is going to be quite a tough requirement !

Question about one of Bill-C24's requirements.

So I understand that the new law requires a PR to be physically present in the country for no less than 183 days per year in the 4 years of physical presence. Does this requirement apply to "any" of the 4 years, or should ALL of them satisfy this requirement ? In other words, say I landed in...

Question to those who are 'In Process'.

Just wondering, if your status says "In Process" but then the explanation (when the link is clicked) says "Your request for a permanent resident card was approved on January 30, 2015. Your Permanent resident card will be mailed to you or if quality assurance is required, made available for you...

Renewal PR hasn't shown up since July!

Not all applications in process do show up online. My cousin's online status was non existent until 17 days before they sent him his card. I say give them a call.

Demonstrating residency obligation AFTER returning to Canada

Never ever send original passports. Copies will do (preferably colored, and translated if not in English/French). However, if they ask you to pick your cards up at a local office, they may ask to see the original documentation for verification.

New passport = Need for new PR card?

My apologies. The link I posted provides 2 pieces of conflicting information for newcomers, one of which I did not read. "Am I eligible for Ontario Health Insurance" mentions 153 days in the first 6 months after taking up residence. "Am I eligible for OHIP right away or do I have to wait ?"...

New passport = Need for new PR card?

No need to get a new PR card. Even if you do get your PR card in February, you would not be eligible to apply for OHIP until you have lived in Ontario for 5 months during your first 6 months of residence (153 days to be precise, so in your case around June 15, 2015). During this period, you...

Repercussions for not renouncing PR status

Or, you could apply for a TD anyway. Your status will be automatically revoked when your application for a TD is refused, and when you arrive in Canada you can enter as a visitor.

    PR Card Renewal

1- So you have met your RO. 2- In the "travelled to" section of the question, just indicate "US" and that your trip includes travel to India. 3- Yes, they want to verify that your declared physical presence is true. 4- That sounds great. As long as you can prove that you've met your RO, you're...

Applying for PR when already a resident as thought it had expired...

The first 5 years you mention are irrelevant. They look at the 5 years preceding the date you sign your renewal application. You've "done your time". You are eligible to apply.

Applying for PR when already a resident as thought it had expired...

The fact that an immigration officer at a POE asks you "to look into it" is what puzzles me most about this system. I am assuming that you did not present your expired PR card…so did you enter as a British visitor ?

Appeal approved but they've sent to local office again for renewal pr card!

Please indulge me. Why/how would a successfully examined permanent resident of Canada be ineligible for a PR card ?

PR card renewal supporting docs and travel document

Getting that stamp corrected was a very smart move. Take note of the date you made this correction in case you have to explain it during your application for citizenship. Good to hear some good news :) Have a safe trip !

PR card renewal processing time! I need help :-)

Welcome to the challenge-your-patience game. Give it another 3-4 months for the system to reflect your application status. Switching to urgent processing so you can fly out on December 30th is not a good idea. "Urgent" these days is usually 2+ months.

RQ ... REPLY ! is it ok to send a one binder of 2000 + paper ! Help

Re: RQ ... REPLY ! is it ok to send a one binder of 2000 + paper ! Help I see that you posted exactly what they requested, so just submit what they asked of you: If they asked for all these documents you mentioned, covering the past 5 years, then this is what you are expected to provide. When...

Few scenarios on RO, Help needed!!

Apologies for going off-topic, but I was wondering how accurate the above info is: I always thought that a removal order was issued only after an inadmissibility hearing has been conducted, and then by referral from the minister. CBSA issues these orders at a POE nowadays ?? I thought CBSA only...

    Residency obligation

You must have been physically present in Canada, and be able to prove that you were, for 730 days in the last 5 years from the date of your renewal application. So for example, if you submit your application on January 1, 2015, you should be prepared to prove that you were physically present in...

COPR Expiry date and entry from us boarder ?

The expiration date you are referring to indicates the last date on which you are able to "land" in Canada to become a PR. I believe it is usually 12 months from the date you did your medicals, or the date on which your passport expires (whichever comes first). What you have to be concerned...

    Proof for PR renewal

Today, thousands of employers request to see a PR card when one mentions that he/she is a permanent resident. One reason they want to check its validity is when the job entails international travel. When an employee has to apply for a travel document abroad (and wait for approval) to return to...
