Thanks. I wonder what the representative had in mind when he was clearly giving wrong directions to me. And with that info, we'll probably stay in the EE pool forever... It's so frustating when you move to a new country, fall in love with it, work, spend, pay your taxes and every time you have...
Hey guys, here's my situation:
Called IRCC this morning to ask about my express entry situation. My wife currently has a better score than me on EE because of her education, however she holds an OWP and works in Canada in a skilled job for some months now. I've asked the representative about...
I don't think you need to update your profile or do anything other than show proof of 3 years of experience (even if you already have 4). A similar situation happened to my friend, he answered he had 2 years of experience but he already had 3 when invited to apply later. Then he just sent all...
Here we go again posting in this thread after over a year...
I will have to apply for a new LMIA (currently inland on a closed WP) for my PR. Since I got promoted to a manager position (NOC 0213) and that would increase my points in the Express Entry pool.
Do any of you guys have a timeline to...
Hey @cherti,
I've applied on the same NYC VAC office on September 9th. Sent additional documents and passport at September 14th.
My application tracker still says "Your current application status is Application Received by the Visa Office - Under Consideration".
Yeah, it's taking a lot of time.
LMIA APPROVED!! 8) 8)
My timeline:
The approval e-mail we received this afternoon:
I'm so excited! Thank you everyone on this post that helped me so much on getting my LMIA done. You guys are the best :)
Ok guys, I will share my timelines, so here it is:
NOC 2173 - Software Engineer
Toronto, Ontario
Application sent: June 22, 2016
Interview call: July 13, 2016 (Asked to respond additional questions via email)
Still waiting, no response from ESDC :|
Thanks Lina!
That's not great news for me since I'm waiting for my LMIA within Canada and time is getting short. I will ask to extend my visitor visa and hope for the best.
But again, thank you very much for the response.
Hello! Another questions for the approved LMIA applicants here (I hope they still read this topic, lol).
A "consultant" just informed me that, after the positive LMIA, it could still take up to 3 months to get my work permit visa issued to finally start to work :(
Is that information accurate...
Just an status update here.
My company called the ESDC office today and the officer confirmed they don't consider stock options/shares as remuneration and it should not be included in the hourly rate calculation, only plain salary is accepted.
Hope it can be useful for anyone else in the...
Haha yes! I've also thought about the same workaround. If I change my contract to 37.5 instead of 40 hours/week, I get the desired result.
However, I'm kind of afraid of that because most of my ads are posted asking for full-time (40h) applicants.
Hello,
Anybody here had the experience to apply for a LMIA with a contract containing Salary + Stock Options as compensation?
This information is very important for me, because it will make the difference between the regular or the 10-day speed of service application.
If I just get my salary...
You're right, that's the rule for NOC 2173 when applying for a job in the video-games industry (limited to BC and ON) afaik.
And that's not my case since I'm working for a finance tech startup.

Thank you for the tip and enjoy Canada!
Thank you! I tried the Canada Salary Calculator from canadavisa.com for 2173 and it shows me a median of $37, so I will try to negotiate with my employer to see if we can get above that value. Thanks for the info, you're the man!
EDIT: Just saw in jobbank the value of $43.27 for Ontario (NOC...
Congratulations man! That's exciting news for me since I'm applying as software engineer in Ontario province. May I ask you if your wage was higher than $35/h? (that's the wage I'm asking for my position)
Thank you and congratz again!
Honest question, how did you know you were close to the pay cut for 10-day process? I just can't find that information anywhere. My last jobbank ad will expire on 8 Jan, when the company will apply for my LMIA as a senior software developer in Ontario (I currently work remotely for them).
Valeu...
