    I was quite worried about the strike at first. My wife and I applied through the Bogota embassy for her PR. There really hasn't appeared to be any delay through that office due to the strike. Here visa has been processed faster than the processing times posted on the CIC website.

    My wife and I thought about doing this as well. I'm not sure if they ask for family ties in Canada. Either way, we felt that if they see that her husband is living in Canada, it might give them reason to deny the visa because the belief that she would stay in canada after her studies.
