Study permit online apps--can we even be sure where it is being processed?

It is processed based on your residence not citizenship. But at this point, regardless of where that is, you should expect a significant delay.

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

Yes, that's what I said. You can try going there directly and hopefully they will stamp it for you.

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

If you can go there in person, that's definitely worth trying first. At least they will tell you how else to proceed if that doesn't work out. Sri1 - if you are still at the same address in the US, you could just mail the passport to the Canadian consulate in the US, that would probably be the...

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

The procedure is probably similar to anywhere else, but you need to contact the consulate first to update your mailing address.

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

The soap opera continues: http://www.pafso.com/news_releases.php?newsID=159 NY does not seem to be listed though, so they might continue their service, as minimal as it is.

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

You were lucky... but no wonder, when the system is totally screwed up like it is now, random things can happen. It's not like your application is that urgent, there is still more than a month until September... yet they processed it. Meanwhile some people who might have real urgency and are...

Can someone paste the complete article? Thanks

    Processing times?

Unfortunately, I don't think they give a f*** about the complaints coming from non-Canadian citizens. The best thing to do would probably be to ask anyone you have on the "Canadian" side (employer etc.) to file a complaint. I have done the same, and also sent emails to all kinds of newspapers...

Help please need advice on visa processing time!

Doubtful but you might give it a try... call the new Visa Application Center in NY, they will be able to give you more info (and they seem to be more helpful than the Consulate itself).

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

I think most of the people are in a similar situation... there doesn't seem to be a way to expedite the procedure, they process the applications one by one. The most you can gain is about a week.

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

Re: Work Permit Applications at NYC for Jun 2013 There is no estimate of processing time due to strike, but 3 months sounds optimistic at this point. If you are unsure about the application, best thing is to submit it through VAC in New York, they seem very helpful. If you already submitted...

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

Thanks for your update. At least we don't have to worry that our application will be canceled if we leave the country! I was expecting this would not be a problem, but it's good to have it confirmed.

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

Sorry, I am a little confused -- are you in a dilemma whether to apply in Canada or the US? I don't know what is your main place of residence, probably it is wisest to apply there because currently there is no way of telling how long the processing would take. If you are able to apply within...

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

What can the VAC really do? I think they are there just to help you prepare the application, but once it's submitted it goes into the same queue as the ones submitted online. I am not sure what it means that are able to track the application. I imagine in the best case you will be able to see...

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

What is really shocking about all this is that they are unable to do the simplest things that would make everyone's agony at least a bit more bearable. Why not update the website each day stating what date they are processing at that point, instead of sending an identical message to 5000 people...

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

That might be what they are trying to achieve in the long run with this online system -- to have most of the processing done in Canada to minimize expenses for themselves (they have been closing down certain consulates around the world and redirecting applications to other ones). Anyway, the...

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

You'd better ask them about this because according to this page http://can-am.gc.ca/visas/apply-how_ny_demande-comment.aspx?lang=eng they will only mail the passports to the US or Canadian address

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

You should probably ask them on Wednesday what will happen with your application if you leave the US... better to know in advance what to expect

Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

Of course, they will ask you to send the passport to NYC/LA if you applied from the US. But perhaps it is possible to make a request for the visa/permit to be issued in another consulate if you change residence during the application process. I don't see a reason why this should not be possible...
