I only provided my passport bio pages copy which covers the 4 years before application as per the requirements. However, I have an old/expired passport, which I used it for landing, I did not send its bio pages copy since it doesn't fall in the 4 years window preceding the application date.

I think they are requesting the passport covering the relevant 4 years preceding the application (As per the Instructions guide) If they need the passport used when you landed even if it is out of the 4 years window, they would mention it. My 2 Cents.

If CIC is asking for the passport for ONLY the relevant 4 years period preceding the application. Then it is clear. Even If anybody used an expired passport when he landed in Canada and it falls out of the 4 years relevant period, then I don't see why it should be provided.

Why should we provide a copy of the degree, the copy of IELTS results is not enough as a language proof?

You are referring to the language requirement for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) not the one for the Canadian Citizenship

CIC accepts IELTS used when anyone applied for immigration to Canada
