did you get your passport back

in the document check list, it didn't say anywhere that i need to include a self addressed envelop . Is that mandatory to sent that , so that i can track my return mail.

My passport was received at ottawa office on december 24. I do have a valid work permit. My flights are booked on jn 16th? Would there be any possibility to receive my passport back before that. when i applied in the website, the processing time shown was 12 days
