    CBSA travel History

If you have frequent and/or lengthy absences from Canada, enclosing a copy of your CBSA traveler history to support your application could only help. If your absences are neither that frequent or that lengthy, then I would not worry. Provide the CIC with exactly what they request on the...

    CBSA traveller history

Hi, I received mine in just under two months.

    Travel document

There is no official CIC law against sending PR cards. Many courier companies, though, refuse to send any type of official identity document (passports, PR cards, etc.) as they don't want to accept the responsibility in case of loss. So it's best to confirm first with the courier company. If...

American waiting for PR card in mail, can I go back to USA without it?

Just a minor observation: if one uses a Nexus card for airplane travel between Canada and the US, there is no receipt that the passenger retains -- it must be handed in to a border agent prior to leaving the customs hall. I'm not sure if one retains a receipt for Nexus travel by road.

What PR residency requirements needed to PROVE you have lived in Canada

With regard to the lost IMM5292 form, it's important to replace it. The application to do so is available at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/certcopy.asp I had accidentally lost mine a while ago (stupid mistake, but alas, such things happen in life). Although it says...

What PR residency requirements needed to PROVE you have lived in Canada

I would definitely second Leon's advice to order your travel history from the CBSA. I ordered mine in advance of preparing my PR Card renewal application and used it to put together the list of absences from Canada that I submitted as part of my application. It took just under two months for...

Mail or Pick-up PR cards - please share your experiences

Hi Karen, My mother's card was approved right after Labour Day (I believe around Sept. 5 or so). She did not receive it until the very beginning of November.

Mail or Pick-up PR cards - please share your experiences

If they do mail the cards directly to you, it will take approximately one week to ten days. And sometimes there are unexpected delays. In my mother's case, she had already received the notice that her renewed card had been approved, and yet she was waiting... and waiting... and waiting...

Mail or Pick-up PR cards - please share your experiences

Dear Karen: That's great news for your parents and for you as well, I'm sure. A nice way to start 2013. You are correct: back in 2012, in most cases (I think the figure is something like 90%), the renewed PR Card is sent directly to the applicant's mailing address. In the remaining cases...

PR renewal delayed at Ottawa local office for almost a year !!

Thank you, Msafiri. Your reply is very helpful. In my case, my travels to the US have been exclusively by air, and I've used my Nexus card ever since I received it in 2009. In sum, all my absences can be accounted for, and I have over 1000 days of physical presence here in Canada. But I'd be...

PR renewal delayed at Ottawa local office for almost a year !!

I'm reading this topic with interest. Msafiri: could I ask what difference it makes if there are trips to the US? I ordered my travel records from the CBSA in preparation for my application for PR Card renewal, and there is a complete and record of all my entries into Canada after trips to the...

    PR time outside

But would short trips back to Canada still count towards the 730 days (even if they are just 4 days here, 4 days there?) provided that they are, of course, documented in some way (with either passport stamps, travel records, etc.)? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm in the process of...

Thank you for your very helpful response, Leon.

How do I calculate days of presence in Canada for PR Card renewal

Thank you, Leon. One more question: when calculating the days of absence for each of my trips, how would I do that? For instance, hypothetically, if I am gone from Canada for a trip from the 10th to the 17th (leaving Canada on the 10th, returning on the 17th), how many days of absence would...

How do I calculate days of presence in Canada for PR Card renewal

Dear All: I'm about to apply for a PR card renewal, and I'd like to be absolutely certain that I have more than the required minimum of 730 days within the past five years. How do I calculate my days of presence in Canada? As I've taken many short trips outside the country (mostly to the US...
