    Reply from CIC

Actually it depends...the dates that are shown on CIC website is an average. Hence, it could take anywhere from two weeks (in some cases) to max of 4-5 months. If your file gets into a wrong pile or sent to Ottawa pilot or some info is missing in your application, be ready to expect...

    Spousal sponsorship

Quick question..... Can you leave Canada to visit your wife for 1.5 months while outland sponsorship application is in progress?? No decision has been made yet. Also, I am Canadian Citizen. The reason I ask this question, is because I have read it somewhere that if you sponsoring your wife to...

    Ukraine Sponsorships UNITE!!

Hi there, I am a sponsor going through visa office in Kiev. I am still waiting for stage 1 approval before my file gets transferred to Kiev. I heard VO in Kiev does not take that long to process the files. Would not that be awesome if stage 2 takes less time than stage 1? It has been more...

No, you are not the only one....I am still waiting to hear something positive. I can not believe it is taking this long. I think our files have been sent to Ottawa office for processing, and therefore such a long wait. Oh well, what can we do about it?? By the way, sent an e-mail to local MP...

I have good news and bad news...Good news is that they have received my application according to my tracking number back in late November....Bad news, is that they have not even began processing it!! Really?? According to the call center...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

I am not sure about moving along....it has been almost 3 months since my application was received by CIC, and not a single word from them. And in addition, we are kept in the dark, call center agents won't even tell you if they have received your application or not. I know patience is a key, but...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

Ms. Malawi, Thanks for your reply. I am sure they are more than capable of setting up the system 'first-come, first-served', but I am guessing they are using randomization process on purpose. In addition, some files could take longer than others, which is understandable...but when u see a gap...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

No movement this week either...Last update: Jan 23, working on Nov 9 files. I have been waiting just about 2 months for stage 1.....but to see some folks still waiting from early November is crazy. It makes no sense to see mid to late December files being approved but Nov still waits. Maybe...

Proof of funds for spousal sponsorship?

Interesting stuff. So, what happens if you are unable to provide such info.....let say you are a student who does not have a job, but will have one upon graduation in a year or so...and 20K in debt in student loans, and no savings....could this be a reasonable situation for rejection?? Or they...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

During busy season at the Govmnt, usually it is between mid Sept - end of Nov, workforce is fully utilized (no vacation, limited days off, longer hours)...but when December comes, a lot of employees will take more days off, vacation, holidays, etc. Therefore, and unfortunate for Nov and Dec...

    Spousal sponsorship

Hello everyone, As most know, one of the reasons for a spouse sponsorship rejection is if the sponsor leaves Canada for more than 2 weeks or so (correct me if it is more than 2 wks) during the entire sponsorship process (assuming permanent residency is in Canada). So, the question is.....how...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

Hi Sweden, Quick question....would it matter what type of criminal record it is?? Is it only applicable if you have a sexual / physical abuse or violent type criminal record?? Just curious!! According to cic: "were convicted of an offence of a sexual nature, a violent criminal offence, an...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

I don't think there is a definitive way of how they process files....at least that's from my observation. Who knows, but maybe it depends on which visa office you are applying to....if it's going through US, UK, or other similar economies as Canada there are more trust involved, less...

    Spousal sponsorship

Thank you for your reply....but I am a bit confused. Where and when do you give them your second passport?? I believe as a sponsor, they only ask for a copy of Canadian passport to be sent with the applications. Wouldn't they ask if they need it??
