How many days were you in Canada? Was it close to 2 years? Like Leon said, maybe you can appeal if you can prove that you were there for almost 2 years and you had to leave for an urgent reason. Good luck.

That's strange. I guess they just want to confirm you've really been here for two years. What a pain! Did you also get a residency questionnaire? Also, did you get a letter earlier saying your file was transferred to the local office? Hope it all works out. Good luck.

When did they send you the questionnaire? Was it a long time ago or recent? I think you'll need to write them a letter and explain your situation, along with the questionnaire. Hopefully they will open your file again. Good luck.

Thanks for posting this article. I read it yesterday and was livid! I cannot believe the fraud that goes on around residency and citizenship. This costs government so much money and, worse, makes it SO difficult for legitimate individuals to get their PR cards renewed, acquire citizenship, etc...
