as far as I know she always needs a return ticket.
I have always had one and I have always had to present it. What I did was I booked one that I could change again. So after I filed for the extension I just changed the return flight to a date 6 months later.
WE ARE DONE! :D
Berlin received my passport last Friday and today (Wednesday) it is already back here in Canada.
What an amazing timeline! I am still under shock.
There were no updates on ecas during the whole time. It still says nothing but "in process since January 11". So don't relay too...
Today I received my passport with my Visa back. We are done, after only 23 days of processing! We are so happy!
I would like to thank everyone here on that forum who has ever asked or answered questions.
When I first started looking into applying I was overwhelmed and sure that I would need...
I don't think it matters how big or how traditional the wedding is. Just take enough pictures. From the pictures they can tell if you are really happy or if this is just a fake wedding.
We got married on a beach, I rode there on horseback and I was wearing riding pants. The reception afterwards...
yes, it is really going fast, I can't believe it myself. I guess we have a pretty straightforward case (no kids, Germany is not a third-world-country, etc) and they seem to process really fast. But we are not done yet, anything can happen....
Hi Ryan,
I don't think you will have any problems.
From my experience it is always easier for the foreign person to get in when the Canadian partner is with them. At least it was like that in my case.
My husband and I got married in Canada and he was with me at the border when I came in. He...
being a German, I would redo it.
I am sure it won't be a deciding factor but the way an application looks like and is presented is the first impression the officer gets. And I would want it to look nice and tidy.
But as I said, that could be just a German thing. Canadians might see it differently.
Thank you, Swede and Miryam.
Everything went exactly as you described it. And I was definitely not the first person with such a request.
Strange that the DHL people had no idea what I was talking about.
Thanks again for your help. It might have sounded like a simple or stupid question but...
no, I definitely don't want that.
I called FedEx and they told me all I had to do is create an account online and Immigration could use this account-number to send the passport back.
Is this correct? What did they do in your case?
thanks, catchvb.
I am still very suspicious about the whole thing though. How can they possibly be done with my application already? There is nothing on ecas about "medicals received" or "decission made". Maybe they are requesting my passport earlier in the process?
I will keep you posted.
thank you for your answer.
How did you handle the return of your spouses passport?
With my PPR they sent some instructions about some "International Air Waybill" and using either DHL or FedEx. I have just talked to DHL here and they couldn't help me. According to them there is no way I could...
Hi everyone,
I am so excited I have just found the PPR in the mail.
The problem is, I am in Canada right now. My visitor visa runs out the end of June. So that should be enough time to be here without my passport and get it back on time to do the landing so that I won't be out of status...
Thank you for your answers.
What made me nervous was that they sent the pictures back after only two days.
But if you guys think this is normal then I will think this too. ;-)
Thank you for your reassurance.
