Singapore Passport Request Letter received! + a question for NguyenTu

Hey! Awesome news, congrats. What a relief to have the whole ordeal over with. :) Did any of you guys get emails as well, or was it just letters?

Completely changing my wife and her son's name.

Ah, perhaps that's what we need, that 'paper.' Maybe an affidavit of some sort until the one year passes? :) Thanks for the suggestion.

Completely changing my wife and her son's name.

Well, I'd be applying for a legal name change for the both of them, so all their documents would reflect their new names. I just wasn't sure how soon I could do it after they landed. Their names are quite hard to pronounce, so we thought just choosing English names would make things a lot easier.

Completely changing my wife and her son's name.

Thank you, Leon, that's a great idea. :) I was aware that in Ontario you would have to reside in the province for one year first, but I thought I read somewhere that for immigration purposes, they may make exceptions.

Completely changing my wife and her son's name.

Hi guys I tried doing a search on the forum first to find an adequate answer, but wasn't able to really find one. I'm still in the process of sponsoring my wife and her son here to Canada - I expect to get a passport request soon. Because they're Vietnamese and would like to ease the...

Delivering Package in Person to CPC-Mississauga

You can NOT drop off a package in person. I literally work in the building next door, and when I brought my package there to drop off, there was no one there. Just a huge door that was inaccessible to the public with a note on the wall stating that all applications have to be mailed. I walked...

    Singapore regional office quiet...

From what I know, horsie's already been approved. I sent Singapore some additional documents they requested via email a few weeks ago and we're waiting on their reply. I doubt we'll get called for an interview, and if these documents prove satisfactory, hopefully my application will wrap up as...

    Singapore visa office?!

I emailed the Singapore office a few weeks ago asking for an update. I knew that it'd probably go nowhere and it was a long shot, especially since I'm still within the regular processing time line. They never bothered responding, as expected. Anyways, today they email me telling me they...

    Singapore visa office?!

Congrats Horsie! It's reassuring to know that others before me are completing their applications as scheduled. Thank you for the update, and all the best in the future! :)

    Singapore visa office?!

I thought horsie answered your question quite honestly and sincerely. Why the bitter response?

    Singapore visa office?!

My application began processing on December 22, just days after yours and I have heard nothing as well. Don't bother ordering the CAIPS notes. At least wait to see if you'll be getting called for an interview - that way at least the notes will be useful and provide you the reasons why the...

    Singapore visa office?!

Just an update for all you guys with applications in Singapore. Their average processing time has increased to 5 - 11 months. Bad news for us all. :(

    Singapore visa office?!

I still check eCAS twice a day anyways - it gives me something to do. I'm just around 5 months of processing time in Singapore. I'll let you guys know if anything happens with my application so you can get a heads up on their processing time. :)

    Singapore visa office?!

Someone on another forum who sent in his application in September just got his visa request. In the last month, I've heard of about 3 people who have gotten their visa requests, so Singapore is definitely at work. I'm still waiting, just like you. :)

    Successful interview.

Wow, it seems that you included a very thorough package with lots of supporting evidence. I wonder why they felt compelled to call you for an interview. Congrats on almost completing your sponsorship process, by the way! :)

    Singapore regional office quiet...

Actually, someone just recently got their visa after 4 months or so, but that's because they had been living together for so long already and I think there was absolutely no question that the relationship was genuine. So it really does depend on how the relationship looks on paper.

    Singapore regional office quiet...

My application has been sitting in Singapore for about 4 months as well. I never received an AOR letter - I had to email them for my case information to be able to log onto eCas. At any rate, the wait is normal. I know of a few other people that have been waiting 5-6 months and haven't...

Step 1 approved- Step 2 waiting for response from Visa Office in Singapore!

This is what I use to check my online application status: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas It does work. It's just not very helpful. :)

Step 1 approved- Step 2 waiting for response from Visa Office in Singapore!

I check the status of my application through e-CAS, but as many others have alluded to on this forum, e-CAS is pretty useless. CPC Mississauga approved my application after 3 weeks. They sent me a letter telling me I met the requirements as a sponsor and that my application was being sent to...
