I live in Canada, I just received the letter yesterday.

Just an updated, Today I got the passport request snail mail, it was sent out in HK on 30 Aug 2012, the day ecas changed to "in process" I believe u guys will get the letter soon.

I mailed them to Australia , I dont know if u can do it in HK? But just a friendly reminder that the consulate just want a name check from australia, so dont go for the fingerprint check. and if ur wife has lived in melbourne or brisbane, she needs to provide the clearance from transport too

they mailed a letter to me to state interview is waived and require to do hong kong police check, however they dont update any info on the ecas nor send any email.

I have the same situation, they will not acknowledge you for the receipt of photos. I sent my photos at the end of July and they inform me that my interview is wavied and asked for the hong kong police cert in mid aug, so I think your case should be fine. U will get the news from them soon...
