yes you can apply for a visitor visa and visit..for comming back to us..you need a valid h1b visa..if not..or if your h1b is expired but you have a valid i-94 and i-797 (not expired) then you can use AVR to enter US. hope this helps.

Its great that people who are working in Canada atleast have this option to apply under some other category as well to put your case in fast track.. Guys like me who are in the US under FSW1 seem to have no hope as such.. People like us are at the mercy of Canadian gov on when they will touch...

Unfortunately I think you need to apply for LMO.ALMO wont be applicable for you at this stage. However, please make sure you check this with some expert as I dont know Canadian laws so well...Still in the US.
