Yes, because of privacy issue. The office will give you a form to be filled up by your spouse overseas. and your spouse would have to send (email) it to the office directly. I am not sure on this but i think they accept scanned copy.

I wouldnt delay in contacting MP office in this case. Try to explain your situation to the office. They can get back to you within 48 to 72 hrs. I am not sure on this but enquiry doesnt affect the process of your application.
