The 6 month rule applies to the expiration date of the LMO. It means you have 6 months to apply for the work permit after you receive the LMO.

Your employer can ask for the file number and the date they have received it. They will tell you roughly which dates they are working on so you have an idea how much longer it is going to take. I think they are still working on applications from September 15th until 3rd of October at the moment...

Just got some more info, on Friday they will mail the application to somebody else at SC who will finalize the application. With all the holidays it basically means I can expect to hear something from 15-20 January. By then it will be about 16-17 weeks since I submitted my application. :'(
