Is the gender marker on PR card being different from passport a problem?

Anyone know if this would be an issue? I'm getting sick of the run around every time I try to call. I am a transsexual in BC and in BC I am considered male as well as in Britain, my place of birth, so ALL my documents, including my passport reflect this. However, immigration are hell bent on...

    Change of name process

I recently changed my name and I'm looking to update my information for my CEC application as well as work permits (a Bridging Work Permit as well as a closed permit). I'm trying to find information on how to do this and I'm kinda going in circles. Has anyone done this before who can point me...

12 months of work required - what if took 1 month for vacation?

They will know you were out of the country for a month as it would show in your complete application. For the 'Your Travels' part: "List all trips you, and if applicable, your family members have taken outside your country of origin or of residence in the last ten years (or since your 18th...

If Bridge Open Work Permit Rejected

Mine was just approved and my closed work permit was until Oct 2014. However, I explained in explanation letter that I had been let go from the workplace that permit was for in May 2013 due to a lack of work and was currently unemployed. I also stated that my original contract was only until...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Applied on June 17th. My closed work permit wasn't up until Oct 2014 but I was let go from that work place (lack of work) in May 2013 (and original contract was actually only until October 2013). I explained all this in explanation letter. I just called the call centre, and they just...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

It's an open permit - so don't give ANY details of employment or continuing employment. Write N/A in those parts of the form and leave it as just open permit. If you fail to do this it could confuse the agent and lead to the application being denied.

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Did you validate the form on the PDF? There's the option to validate right at the end of the PDF, if you don't validate it, it won't upload.

Got rejected today:( any suggestions on my case?

Yes I know this, but it was 16 months, not 2 years so it wouldn't have counted as a 2 year and would have required (like myself) the 2 years of work experience.

Got rejected today:( any suggestions on my case?

I think your issue is actually applying too early. The rules for only needing 1 year of employment didn't change until January (your post grad permit was only 16 months) so at the time you applied you actually needed 2 years of employment. Now because the rules have changed the reason given is...

    Background/ Declaration questions

Do whatever it says on form, immigration officer has form, not guide. When it says maiden name, put maiden name. Your mother's maiden name is her family name anyway. And just write "none" and you need only do it on one of the top boxes, not every column. And don't worry too much. None is the...

please help for my friend depature from canada but he applied bowp

Maybe they saw through the study visa application to have implied status. It'd be a bummer but it's not very likely to apply for a study visa by mistake so I don't think they buy that excuse. Normally BOWPs are given when you already have a work permit but it is due to expire or it is a closed...

Tips for a successful BOWP application

Does anyone know if it's actually possible to go to the border and flagpole to get this open permit there? I have a closed work permit until October 2014 but that company just let me go. I know folk have managed to be successful despite the 4 month before expiry thing but my main issue is that...

Here on a post-grad work permit but looking for help on how to stay!

I recently successfully completed a year long intensive course and was eligible for the Post-Graduation work permit program for international students graduating from designated private post-secondary institutions in British Columbia. I currently have my work permit until October of next year...

Post-grad work permit - can I get it at the border?

I get a post-grad work permit as a graduate of the school I attended but the work permit process is way too slow. I'm a visual effects artist and there's LOTS of jobs right now that definitely won't be there by the time I get my permit (74 days is ridiculous in my opinion). I've already made a...
