At this time i will suggest you to go for single entry and must show enough ties to your home country. Once you are approved for single entry then you can apply for multiple entry one. If you want to be safe then apply for single entry

You can always transfer your valid visa from your old passport to your new passport by paying about $25 - 50 and then you can travel. As far as I know the visa on your old passport is not valid untill your passport is valid.
