    BOGOTA Visa Office 2012 applicants

Nice one ccunnington! My wife got her visa in her hands today, so this will be my last post. Good luck to all, and thanks to those that have helped me with questions.

It may be a little longer for you then. We were asked to send the passport in July and they still have it! Unfortunately the embassy made many mistakes and delayed our process. We only found out about their mistakes when we received our CAIPS notes.

As with everything in Colombia, if you don't like the answer from someone then try asking someone else ;)

It's good news. My wife had her second set of x-rays done 4 weeks ago and they arrived in Ottawa shortly afterwards. From what I've read on here, it seems that people tend to get the visa 6-7 weeks after this second set of medicals arrive in Ottawa.

Interesting. Thanks for that. I had also heard from another source that those were about the numbers of Canadian Immigration officers and local immigration support staff.

:) My wife is also from an area with elevation of 8500 ft. I find it very cold at night there when I go and visit in (our) summer. And the weather can be downright miserable sometimes. Not as miserable as Vancouver in November, but not too far off. If you live in a cold place in Canada you can...

Yes - hopefully your spouse isn't from a low-elevation area of Colombia and likes the cold! Vancouver +5 (yes that is a "+" sign). But, if in Vancouver, you'd best be buying your spouse plenty of gortex and hope they will like winter sports...

    BOGOTA Visa Office 2012 applicants

I've visited my wife 4 times since we got married. We visit family and then visit a different area of Colombia. In total I've been to Colombia 10 times now. The amount of paperwork to get married in Colombia is ridiculous (which you've already done). Then you have to prepare the PR application...

We applied for the student visa and got rejected. We then decided to get married and apply for PR status.

Looks like medicals get sent directly to Ottawa now, rather then to Trinidad.

Excellent sabril. I think we are two months behind you :)

    BOGOTA Visa Office 2012 applicants

Yes I got my CAIPS notes. I found out many things. The embassy had screwed up many times, for example using a wrong email address to contact my wife. We should have had the visa at the end of October, but due to their screw ups we are now looking at Feb/March. Not much longer now and I'm trying...

My wife is re-doing her medicals next week. I strongly advise you to get your CAIPS notes. Search on here for info about CAIPS.

American Airlines fly direct to Cali (from Miami). I've done that route a few times. You'll be there for La Feria. I was there 2 years ago and it was a blast. I then headed to the Carnaval de Negros y Blancos in Pasto afterwards. Quite a crazy 2 weeks.

    BOGOTA Visa Office 2012 applicants

Yes that's the best route, and the one I would have taken if I didn't have points with AA.

I've flown all those routes from Vancouver! Mexico City, Panama, LA, Miami. I have points with American so am flying via Dallas, Miami and Bogota soon. It takes me 3 days to get to my final destination in Colombia, but the flight is essentially free and I always have a great night out in Bogota...
