    For anyone coming to this in future, my permit was approved without taking any additional steps. If you're in the same situation, just raise a webform and contact your medical center and that's all you might need to do.

    Update: I received the following as an update to the web form request: Unfortunately, this is very generic and I don't really think my upfront medical has been linked with my application yet. My medical still says pending. Waiting for updates. Please let me know if someone has something to share.

    For anyone coming to this thread later - I ended up giving upfront medical exam. There is no special medical exam for study or work really - it's same for all.
