No, cancelling and re-applying will only prolong the process. You can order your case officer’s internal processing notes at https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do which will hopefully reveal the reason for your visa’s delayed processing. Not much else you can do otherwise.

You can go to India and can even get your visa stamped there but won’t be able to return back to Canada until your TRV application is approved and the visa is issued.

I suggest you contact your local Member of Parliament (whom you can locate with your postal code at www.ourcommons.ca). Their office will then contact IRCC on your behalf to clarify the reason behind the AOR delay.

Just letting you know that we have received our visa approval letters today thanks to the assistance of our local member of parliament (applied inland on February 3). Everyone who is still waiting for theirs might want to seriously consider the same route.

Yes, you will need a TRV to re-enter Canada until your PR is approved. It’s also advisable to first obtain your TRV and then apply for PR, as there are currently TRV delays for existing PR applicants.

Another good way to find out the reason for a delay is to contact your local Member of Parliament who can be located using your postal code at www.ourcommons.ca and ask them to enquire with IRCC on the status of your application.

It likely then means your PR application processing was the sole reason for your TRV delay. The GCMS notes come handy when there’s another reason, giving you a chance to address it via the IRCC web-form by submitting a letter of explanation and/or additional supporting documents.
