Its not just for renewal, for fresh applications as well. I have a friend who's also stuck. (He applied for a Fresh OCI) and according to consulate this is a very regular occurrence.

Some OCI Cards are getting stuck in a mandatory freeze period also known as a "cooling off" period. Taking 30+ days from ack to be processed, then another 4-8 days in hand. Toronto Consulate

Today? aren't they closed on Saturdays? You will be checking on the BLS website first and then ociservices.gov.in

I can't find your previous post. When did you apply for OCI? where and what was your ack date?

Yes I got a new passport. And handed in my old OCI. Didn’t know it would be such a hassle. And thought i would just apply for visa, but let’s hope for the best
