    PR Card Timeline - 2024

I'm an FSW-O but I'll share my timeline nonetheless: Landing date: 7th July 2024 GU1: 22nd July, 2024 GU2: 24th July, 2024 (message on Gckey saying PR card is mailed). Didn't receive any emails but I was able to see changes in my Gckey account. Hoping I'll get it soon! :D

    My landing experience in Ottawa.

Thank you mate. No because I only have clothes and some electronics that I bought with me.

    My landing experience in Ottawa.

Hi folks, I don't see many people sharing their landing experience in Ottawa as most of the new immigrants with a COPR tend to land in major airports like Calgary or Toronto. So here is my experience! I started my journey in New Delhi! My flight was Delhi to Paris and Paris to Ottawa. The...

The sad fact about this is that the most abuse this program will face will probably come from South Asians. I won't be surprised if people will be selling caregiver job offers in Punjab to village boys for 50-60 lakhs. Another program implemented without much thought.

It's not unreasonable though to worry about things that are happening in Canada with Indian people, especially international students. It may not be affecting Express Entry immigrants for now but if these things escalate then we're not too far away from the chopping block. Although for now, it...

They will probably keep on extending their work permits until they eventually qualify for a PR status. Who knew hunger strikes can be this effective in Canada. I wouldn't even be surprised if they increased the quota and directly granted them a PR. Nothing is out of question now.

Can I apply with a PCC that is four month old?

I had a new PCC issued but if I were you, I would go ahead and file the eAPR if your PCC is under 6 months old. If IRCC needs another one, they'll contact you and then you can apply for it later on.

From what I know about Canadian work permits, it's clearly written that "you must leave Canada by xxx date". What part of the word "temporary" do these guys don't understand! When I was a student in Europe, people would've laughed and giggled at me if I decided to do a hunger strike to gain...

Proof of funds during landing. Will my one time transfer to Canadian bank suffice?

I'm planning to land as a permanent resident soon but I'm not sure how I can show the proof of funds. I'm planning to transfer pretty much all of my money from my account in my home country to a newcomer's pre-arrival Canadian account. But I will only have access to that money once I visit the...

Is an accompanying goods list compulsory for hard landing?

Oh that's good to know and thanks for detailed information. I was a bit confused about the accompanying goods list and would feel super awkward just writing "clothes" in the section. I know some immigrants take tons of stuff with them. For me, I can move my entire life in just two bags lol. :D

Is an accompanying goods list compulsory for hard landing?

Okay that's good to know since I won't be carrying any valuables in the first place.

Learning "French" for benefit in express entry.

Yes, it could be that the next government might change categories. But I think it's a good idea to learn it anyway since you will most likely always get some bonus points for Express Entry and it's a nice language to know.

Is an accompanying goods list compulsory for hard landing?

So I can land without the accompanying goods form? Do I need to declare my laptop and phone or is it okay?

Learning "French" for benefit in express entry.

It's a bit of a gamble since the governments will most likely change in Canada next year. So we can't say for sure if they will give this much importance to Francophones. For me, it was a gamble too to learn French from scratch; it took me two years. But it worked. I hope that if you decide to...

Is an accompanying goods list compulsory for hard landing?

Hi all, I have an immigrant visa and I was wondering that if I do a hard landing, will I have to carry a list of goods accompanying? I'm talking about the form that is found on CBSA. The thing is that I'm only going to be carrying clothes, my laptop and phone. And that is it. I have no goods...

I think what pisses people off is the fact when students present it as a cost saving measure. That being said, it gives racists a lot of reasons to hate us even more.
