I would just be honest and give them the details they are asking for. I don't think there's anything to worry about if your information is true and correct. This is really strange, there's no OCI stamping of passport anymore. You should't be receiving an email like this. Please check with BLS before you reply. Also let us know what happens.

Entry visa processing times are as bad as OCI. If one has time to apply for entry visa, might as well try for OCI instead. If entry visa processing times were better and fast, I agree this would be a reasonable option.

I know someone in a similar situation. They concluded that if they do go to India on visa, then they would have to leave India first and then return with the OCI. The reasoning was that it would be too complicated to convert their visa entry into an OCI entry later. There's no clear procedure...
