Nowadays, one can only hope to get their passport within the Service Canada processing times. Transfer to local passport office is not guaranteed. The agent will be upfront about that. It's a gamble at that point. And you can only do this if you're within 10 business days of travel date. They...

I sent it to Gatineau. New passport application. Since April 12 and waiting.

It varies. Some people (like me), got credit card charged more than a month or 2 months ago and still nothing. Some get it within the time frame you said after the charge.

Not on my end. While it's great they're doing something about the line-ups and providing services to people who urgently need passports, I hope they also do something to speed up processing times for the mail-in applications.

No problem! I dropped it off in a CP Shoppers on Sunday, then Monday it got picked up. The Gatineau / Ottawa Service canada office received it (with signature), Tuesday. I tracked it using my Canada Post account.

I sent mine via Xpresspost for tracking number and I added a signature option. I think it was 19 dollars total. Very fast. But this was back in April….

It will be a "If you live in Canada...." male voice message (for english) instead of "For general information such as...". The moment I hear the word "For" I hang up and call again.

Not sure if it works with Xpresspost but creating an account with Canada Post gives the user an option to automatically track mail/deliveries under their name (with up to 3 variations, I think). It successfully did for past deliveries based on my experience. I've been watching my Canada Post...

The cc charge is a mixed bag of hope. They could charge your card right away and you still have to wait for weeks (or months...?) before you get your passport or they could charge it late and you get your passport within a couple of days after.
