Got the email response that card has been mailed on Aug 23 for self. Haven't received it yet. Hopefully it'll be sometime this week. For spouse, it mentioned it's in approval stage. Hopefully it'll be approved soon.

After a lay off while on a closed work permit, can one stay legally in Canada and look for another job till the current work permit expires? If found another job, after applying for another closed work permit, can one start the work on the implied status?

For sowp, after TRV was stamped, do we get an LOI for Port of entry?

Since you already applied for TRV inside Canada which seems to be taking about a month for approval, even if you travel, once you get passport request, you may explore the option to get it stamped in your home country. You don't need to apply again for TRV from outside if this works out.
