I received an update on my application after 5 months of nothing. I received my BIL on yesterday. I don't know why it took 5 months to be sent this and what this means for my timeline but at this point I'm treating any movement as positive news.

It was October 15th and the update was biometrics fee request. Today I've had a biometrics instruction letter. 2 updates in five days after 0 updates in 5 months

You don't get a confirmation email when you submit a webform unfortunately. You just have to trust that IRCC will receive it and get back to your. I submitted a webform in August asking for an update and I haven't received any kind of reply.
