I meant the H1B extension in progress which is applied within US which is I-129. Dropbox is when you are already outside US. You can apply for extension while in US and continue working even if you previous H1 expired as far as extension is applied before expiration.

In order for your wife to get an H4 EAD you should have an approved I140 which would take somewhere (PERM and I140) year or two.

Do send the email to -IRCC.ClientPortalPrairies-PrairiesClientPortail.IRCC@cic.gc.ca. They respond within 4-5 days. Send it with some urgency and they will get back with specific update.

I think it’s worth calling their customer care, I did the same, it’s not guaranteed until the cards are mailed. I have read earlier in this thread that someone’s case went to error after it’s sent to production. Call in the morning and it takes around 15-20 mins to get through.
