You don't need to submit your Canadian passport for your SC application, but you need a Canadian passport to apply for SC. They require a photocopy of it with your attestation. See the checklist.

Purolator has a partnership with BLS I guess. It should be fine. I've had no issues sending it by postal. If you live in Ontario and drop off at Purolator or had it picked up by 6:30 PM, it reaches them safely the following business day morning around 10 or 11.

Unfortunately, you'd have to get 2 hard copies of your photo, because of the stamp added behind for the guarantor's signature and the date the photo was taken. There are places that do passport photo for a lower fee than Shoppers. Check on Google to find that out.

You're welcome. If you live near-by to the passport office, I'd recommend visiting sometime. There will be a security guy and/or a Lady officer just by the line, who can advise you if you can opt for a walk-in over the appointment. Maybe you can get the passport a little earlier. The office is...
