    Help with AIP letter wordings

Hello, we consulted an immigration consultant and he basically reiterated a lot of things most already said in this forum which you probably knew already. His suggestion was to provide as much proof as we can since the initial application that we've been cohabiting. This should include but not...

    Help with AIP letter wordings

Thank you! What’s your timeline? Almost exactly a year by end of March since we first submitted the application. How many days after submitting proof of cohab she got AIP? About a month.

    Help with AIP letter wordings

I am sponsoring my wife inland and she received the AIP. However, I need help with understanding the wordings on the letter. I am a little confused with the wordings in bold letters. "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a...

Letter from CIC Officer - Inland Application

I was reading the post and the following paragraph caught my attention. "However, a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Thanks for the info np08, I thought it's just us that's having trouble getting a bank account for my wife. In our case, the credit card transactions are grouped by the credit card number so as long as I can proof which card number is mine and which is my wife's. I hope that will do it.

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Thanks for that info funboy101. Yes she has an Ontario ID card. Strange that CIBC allowed you to open a joined account for your wife because I am with them as well and they told me they can't open an account to non-PR. I have verified this with other banks as well but I will try again.

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Great, thanks for that advice funboy101. I will contact my credit card company and make the request. Another question. Her visa extension is due in March and I just want to ensure that we get it extended because I am unsure how much longer the PR processing will take. Is it true that as long...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Hi Fatima, that depends on the credit card company/vendor. Not all credit card company/vendor will have both the primary and supplementary card holder's name on the statement. She does already have a supplementary card her name is not on the statement or the online account. There is only my name.

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Update: I have checked out Blue Cross and they are only willing to cover only within 30 days after previous travel insurance expiry. Since my wife passed that 30 day window she can't go with Blue Cross. We called Manulife and they have no such restriction so we're going with Manulife. Thank...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

I just called Manulife and you're right that she can be covered but there is a 48-hour waiting period for someone who's already in the country. We will get this coverage today! Thank you!

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

YVR123, yes we understand that. Initially she did have health insurance but then it expired when we extended her visa. Travel insurance are to be purchased prior to leaving the original country. They will not accept out-of-country purchases.

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Thanks np09 and Ldonasci! A lot of great advice. I will do that next and get friends/families to write letters for us with their contact numbers. We will also send them everything else we have, pictures, dental receipts, and whatever else we can come up with.

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Hi np08, thanks for your advice. We probably didn't fully understand the benefits of having OWP as you listed above and we didn't think she can qualify for when we read the requirements...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

That's a good catch Linda and thanks for pointing that out. That's even more puzzling as I thought I have provided tons of proof of that (so I thought) but it seems as they needed more. I will work on that. tiarachel85, no she didn't apply for owp.

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Hi Linda_s74, we have included an explanation letter to why she's lacking evidence of shared expenses but perhaps the explanation wasn't thorough enough. I will have some letters draft up from friends, colleagues, and also revise the letter of explanation why we're lacking bank statement data...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Hi DollyM, sorry for being unclear. My wife was working in her country not in Canada and she wasn't making much as she had living expenses to cover as well there. We did try opening a joint bank account but most of the banks we went to require her to have at least a PR. They won't let her...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Hi YVR123, in hindsight I should have put something under her name but at the time we didn't feel we need to or knew any better. My wife didn't make much to begin with so we didn't see any reasons to have anything under her name at the time of applying for the PR. We can get friends to draft...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

Thanks Buletruck and DollyM for your suggestions. We are not in a conjugal relationship. We're married in Toronto and my wife gave birth to our daughter in Toronto. We have provided Canadian issued Marriage Certificate, daughter's Birth Certificate which showed both parent's common address...

    Proof of cohabitation rejected

You did bring up a good point in regards to having statements from friends and family saying that they know you are in a genuine relationship. This we can get but I thought all the doctor, medical receipts are better than letters from friends and family because when she went to the doctor they...
