Thanks Jacaranda, I think I'll do the same, as it isn't worth paying that much. Only problem is I landed in 24 Aug and haven't got my PR card yet, so I don't think I can use any public transportation and air line to go to Canada. Any thoughts on this? did you already finish ur landing?

Today I got my passport back with visa. :) I'm planning to do landing sometime in September.

I submitted my passport on July 29 along with cashiers check and prepaid express mail envelope through priority mail and it was delivered to consulate on August 1st. They cashed the check on August 8 and today on 11th August I'm able to see activity on my express prepaid envelope.

Hi maverick, today I checked my tracking number again and I do see some activity on it, seems like I'll get my passport back by tomorrow noon. Given that you sent your passport two days after mine, you should see similar activity within couple of days.

I haven't got my passport back yet. but today I checked with my bank and it confirmed that my certified check (RPRF fee) got encashed on 8th August. I sent prepaid express mail envelope along but I don't see any activity on tracking number yet. Did you check with your bank yet?

Does anyone know how long usually NYC consulate takes to return passport?

Thanks Jacaranda. Did you already mailed your passport or are you planning to go in person for stamping? I mailed my passport to nyc consulate along with required documents and returned prepaid envelope, hopefully consulate won't take much longer this time and I'll get my passport soon :)

Yesterday, I got my PPR after about 8 months of wait from nyc consulate.

tonyind is right. it is 1st July 2011.
