    Super Visa health insurance is not much different than standard emergency health insurance for visitors to Canada. The only minor difference is that some carriers will offer monthly payment plans for policies of 365 days with policy limits above $100K.

    I would extend it prior to it expiring (assuming there are no claims) for the foreseeable future until he get provincial health insurance. When that happens , you cancel it pro-rata. May have to pay a small admin fees ($25 or so) but this ensures there are no gaps in coverage
