Applied July 14 in person, received on July 26 in mail from Canada Post.

Yes, I don't think it changes when it is sent for printing - only updates when it's been printed and ready for pickup or printed and mailed out. I applied in person July 14, and got status update July 25. I chose the standard processing time and not express/urgent.

Yes, the status will change. Mine changed today and said passport has been printed and mailed out. They provided Canada Post tracking number.

I went to Service Canada office in Oshawa to apply for passport - July 14. Booked an appointment but realistically didn't need one. No line and was done in about 20. mins. Will probably get the old version as I've heard they will roll out the new design late fall/early next year.

Applied in person from Oshawa office yesterday - I had booked an appt for this location but it was not crowded at all. Walk-in would have taken 20-30 mins max from start to finish. I was done in 20 mins. They also stated I would get it in the mail around mid August though I think it will arrive...

you can walk in to any location I believe or book an appointment online. Either way I think processing times these days are not bad - people receiving their passports in 10-12 days.

I had my oath on June 27 and received certificate in the mail on July 4.

if they are the same it should not matter, in any case the officer will tell you what to do when they register you. For me, the officer told me no need to mention application/file number in email subject, but rather put their name in the subject line.

Someone mentioned that they got the new version of the passport from Ottawa office. Old versions are still valid, all depends on when the locations will get the new machines to produce the new versions.
