On my study permit, it is marked as "May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186(f), (v) or (w). Must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria." And, yes it is between my 1st and 2nd year.

That is so true! The intensive programs, research programs, and Ph.D.programs also work in a different way than a regular course-based master program. So, I am so curious about how CIC notice if a student qualifies for a scheduled break.

Sounds like there exist multiple definitions for the scheduled break. The definition found on the UBC website is "This definition is for immigration purposes to denote students who are not required to be enrolled during program breaks. Students are considered to be ‘actively pursuing studies’...
