Can anyone with experience prove that you can not buy and use a car immediately after the first arrival in Ontario? According to the Ontario.ca site, so it sounds like I can drive and use a car for the first 60 days. So why I cant purchase and drive a vehicle?

The name and D.O.B are only in English in the new Saudi Driver's licence whereas the date of issue and expiry are in Higri/Arabic. All entries in the old licences are in Arabic. If you drive in Saudi, it would be easy for you to secure a Canadian licence as both countries follow similar traffic...

You can get a Canadian Driving Licence (Basic), with a Driving Credential from your home country. Most jobs will require you to own a car or at least demonstrate that you can drive one. Very useful after you land.

Hope every thing goes smoothly . Just go to your local licence office and ask them how long you can drive on your US licence. I thought it was a year, but your insurance will be higher. Its only a matter of them doing a check and sending you out a new one .

Do you have a Canadian Drivers licence? Some provinces only allow you to drive on your foreign drivers lience for only 3 months. That would be your first step.

No, International Drivers License is not valid in Canada. But your regular Indian license or any valid driver license from out of Province(out of state) is valid for driving in that province(state) for 3 months since you moved into that province. It applies to all the provinces and Territories...

Looks like you are in hurry to not only fly to Canada but also drive. Great. You can drive with your US driving licence, it would cost you about $ 80-100 per day. Call 1-800-654-313 for hertz airport location. Airport locations are mostly expensive for renting a car.

For just 3 weeks, there is no requirement for a licence change. Once you return to Canada to settle, you will need to investigate the current requirements for obtaining a new licence. UAE licences are not eligible for a direct exchange.

Although I have no insider info, if there is such a rule then I doubt that it implies anyone can drive with an expired licence but if they have a licence that is expired they have a year to exchange but not drive or drive at own risk in the mean time until exchanged. I defer though to those...

Hi guys! Just to say the following: If any of your spouses has a valid driver's licence with at least six months before expiry and they wish to drive as soon as they land, get them to get an international driving permit which will be sufficient to exchange for a canadian driver's licence. Cheers!
