i have been flaged at the canadian border, how can i fight this

Hope this is not an obtuse question, but it would appear to be relevant to various posts on here and this is the only topic where I have seen this specific advice offered about making an access to information request, The link to the cic I have followed but it seems to be for Canadian...

Would like to visit again. Had incident at the border a few years back.

Excuse the naive question but when you say red-flagged is that different from just flagged or is it all the same. On another thread I was given the option of voluntary withdrawal cause I was meeting someone from the internet to go snowmobiling. Apparently the snowmobileforum.com is a dangerous...

think i have got myself into a lot of trouble with immagration

Good question: the experience is still a bit 'raw'. I've been snowmobiling there a few times, almost always in new brunswick via Halifax 1998, 2000. 2001. 2003, 2008 and Yukon 2004. I think I was just not expecting anything. Got more questions at the immigration post than normal: usually it's...

think i have got myself into a lot of trouble with immagration

They asked you about involvement in the Irish troubles? Jeez... Do you have red hair and carry a pig under your arm? Is that what they call stereotypical profiling..... at least you got through unlike myself....good luck with the rehabilitation

think i have got myself into a lot of trouble with immagration

If you're visiting you might be asked the general question but there is no instant way of verifying non-USA records so you are ok. If you're moving there permanently, then the process of rehabilitation will be necessary I don't think they will have a record of you denying it on previous visits...

"Allowed to leave Canada" can I come back?

If your problem was just documentation, then you'll be fine...just make sure you tick all the boxes and cover all bases. For some reason I'm not allowed to post links so if you can interpret this, please use it. Just join up the address and it should be ok. www . cic . gc . ca /...

think i have got myself into a lot of trouble with immagration

Criminal convictions need not be a problem - only if you are an American as the Canadians and Americans share information. Canadians have no direct access to british criminal records. Before I went this year to canada I thought it had all been tightened up as I have a record from 2002 from...

Voluntary removal from Canada after 13 years of visiting for snowmobiling

Thanks Lektor. Some practical tips there though it looks like I may well get a secondary screening, though maybe that's not guaranteed if the first round of questions goes ok.

Voluntary removal from Canada after 13 years of visiting for snowmobiling

At least FlyAirNorth offered 100% refund of my airfare (even waived the $80 fee). BA changed flight with no fee although I'm assuming that because CBSA asked, airlines maybe have a special arrangement. Unlike the tightwad snowmobile hirer in Whitehorse...wired a total of $3200 [edit: actually...

Voluntary removal from Canada after 13 years of visiting for snowmobiling

Did you survive the screening experience? You were allowed in? What would have happened if I hadn't given the password? (My fault, my friend's number was in the diary....15secs looking for it would've maybe saved the situation.) What cheesed me off was being in the same interview area as a...

Voluntary removal from Canada after 13 years of visiting for snowmobiling

Thanks Baloo: no offence taken. I arrived at 20:00 but my body (and mind) were working on Irish time of 5am the next day. You say 'reasonable' but I've never been accused, or at least the insinuation has never been made that I was hiring a gigolo...that was what it was made to feel...

    One way ticket question.

Based on a story of my Canadian friend who had a single ticket, it's a LOT LESS hassle to get a return ticket...not that more expensive. A single one-way ticket sends up a very strong flag..even for Canadian citizens... The car ride is possible....what about the train?

Voluntary removal from Canada after 13 years of visiting for snowmobiling

Thanks for the reply. (a) When you say flagged, that means the issue of voluntary removal will be noted against my name no matter which city I enter? (b) When she said there'd be no black mark, does a 'flag' count as a black mark or are details expunged? (c) Should I expect to be questioned in...

Voluntary removal from Canada after 13 years of visiting for snowmobiling

(Three key questions at the end, if you wish to skip details of my still 'raw' experience. Planned trip to Canada this Feb blown up in my face. Arrived at Vancouver for a night's stopover to Whitehorse, Yukon. British citizen but living and working as a teacher of English in Poland. Travelled...
