Check to make sure that on the actual visa application form you put your first and last name in the two separate fields intended for them, I put both in just the first name field and that way it seems like the names are different.

No, it's automatic. :-) As far as I know you're not even supposed to leave the country while the application for a new visa is still being processed.

Implied status means you can remain in Canada until they make a decision, even if your visa is expired.

Why do they have to make it so complicated?! :-\
