Possible Oddity On Visitor Record (Question)

First off, thanks to all of you who reassured me about my entry in the last thread. I narrowly dodged a couple of torpedoes on it, actually, but now I know what I need for last time to be completely smooth. (Arrange travel insurance ahead of time...) But, I just had to go to an urgent care...

    Stressing over "dual intent" (help!)

Thanks for taking the time to reassure me, guys. I appreciate it, though I'm still rather panicky over the flight tomorrow. It's on the same day of the week and the same time as the last one, so I'm praying I get the same officer and he remembers me. I wasn't able to get all the docs I...

    Stressing over "dual intent" (help!)

What's been worrying me especially is the fact that I have no mortgage or rental agreement or anything like that. Plus, no job. PLUS, stories like I found here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/visitor-record-in-canada-t41806.0.html Multiple instances of similar...

    Stressing over "dual intent" (help!)

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2009/ob131.asp So, I'm about to fly out of Canada for a couple weeks and return on Jan 15. The biggest point of stress here is the return trip through customs. By then I'll definitely be in the system as having applied to stay in Canada...

New questions (including very important one)

Hi all. I'm an American and my wife is sponsoring me, and I'm almost done with the first wave of paperwork! Yay! But, before I seal this all up and send it out, I had a couple last questions. First, do I need to get a notarized copy of my driver's license? It doesn't explicitly say that, but...

    Pictures and Shipping things

Hi all! I'm back, and I have a couple new questions. One, it says on my checklist I need immigration photos of "my entire family". Does this include the wife who is sponsoring me? Two, my wife's computer is continuing it's downward spiral into the digital dustbin. I have a superior (DESKTOP)...

Okay, something more tricky now. Mailing stuff.

Not all computers are laptops. ;) My desktop is a weeee bit heavier than just about any laptop from the last 20 years. Also, information I've since uncovered indicates this shipment could be tricky no matter what. Does anyone know if sending just the hard disk of my US computer would be more...

Okay, something more tricky now. Mailing stuff.

If she can she'll keep using that one until it sets itself on fire. Also, it's much too far to drive like that. My US home is near Chicago, and she lives in Edmonton. Hence, I fly. Bringing a 20kg desktop computer on the plane is a wee bit problematic. And this is a 4-year-old box, and even with...

Okay, something more tricky now. Mailing stuff.

You'd think it wouldn't be so nerve wracking and tricky, but, well, here's my story. Earlier this year I was going to be staying in Canada for a while with my wife while we worked on the immigration paperwork. My parents sent me a bit of a care package: some socks, a jacket, and a cookbook...

    Questions about the forms

I will be submitting everything very soon. They did stamp and sign the passport. I have to go home in January for some medical stuff and will be "home" in the US for a little while, resetting the visitor visa to day one.

    Inland application medical

Yeah, I did mine ahead of time and will likely have to do another, but we wanted the "entire package" to be submitted at the start in hopes of it going through speedily. If I need a new one, oh well, if that's all that goes wrong I'll be happy. :P

    Questions about the forms

Thank you very much! This will help greatly! Also, right now I'm here in Canada on a visitor visa. They grilled me thoroughly at the airport but I had all my documents for dual intent in order so they let me in. I'm here until January, and hopefully by then I'll be in the immigration system to...

What do I say at the border?

Be real careful, though. If you say you're staying for a week and then overstay that, I have no idea what would happen. When I said I was staying for ~5 months I got grilled but I had all my documents in order and he let me in for the full 6 months. I had our marriage certificate, a letter of...

Huh. Well, I sit corrected. My bad, but I warned ya I could be wrong. ;)

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I can only help with #3. There is a strong possibility it'll delay your getting the FBI certificate. :(

What do I say at the border?

Not from what I can tell. It's been a problem for me, too, so I sympathize. If you can find a bank that makes their own cards and doesn't put a name on them (Servus maybe) you might have some wiggle room. Just get a new card and use that. Otherwise, you may need to make due with a pre-paid card...

What do I say at the border?

From what I can tell you have to be an already landed immigrant (as in, have permanent residency) to have a joint bank account. As an American I can't open a bank account in Canada. I'm pretty sure you need something akin to a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN), their equivalent of a Social...

    Questions about the forms

Hello all! I'm Cvstos, and as you may have guessed, I'm trying to move to Canada. (Go figure, huh?) I'm from the US, and I've married a Canadian. I'm mostly staying here in Canada with my wife but I need to be able to return to the US periodically, so I plan on applying from outside Canada via...
