Oath Timeline - test at Ottawa office

I had my oath ceremony on Mar. 7 as well. When it updated on the CIC website, the invitation was dated Feb 7th, but that update didn't show up until Feb 12th. Good luck guys, you're not too far behind me.

    ottawa oath timeline

I passed my test Jan 8. The website updated on Feb 12 that they had sent me an invitation on Feb 7 to take the oath on Mar 7. 1-3 months is what they mentioned at the test as the waiting time for the oath invite, and that seems to be accurate.

    Oct 2012 Applications

Adding to above, Oath Ceremony invite sent Feb 7, ceremony Mar 7, 2014, at 9:00am. It's so close now! All in all, less than 18 months from application to oath isn't that bad.

New Citizenship Bill Thursday Feb 6th

Agreed. Any applicant who's studied Discover Canada should know that the Queen of Canada is a symbol for the nation, and swearing an oath to the Queen and her heirs is swearing an oath to a living embodiment of Canada, representing all Canadians. "Understanding the Oath In Canada, we profess...

    leaving canada after applying citizenship

I've enjoyed a couple of vacations in the US while my Citizenship application has been in process, and it hasn't negatively impacted anything. No longer residing in Canada would get murkier, but physically leaving the country and returning is no problem. Citizenship test notification can come...

Applications submitted before Feb. 6th but only received on Feb 6th

It's possible they'll open it even though they won't start processing / sending your acknowledgment yet. I had my application opened right away and sent a letter stating I needed newer Citizenship photos (they had expired in transit or possibly the day they arrived). This was September 2012...

    Alberta Citizenship process?

The rules are changing, and since you're not yet a PR, they could even change again by the time you're eligible to apply. I'd wait to even think about it until you become a PR; by then the dust will have settled on the changes.

Taking Child to the Citizenship Test

No problem. I'm eagerly awaiting a citizenship ceremony invite, so this forum is on my mind. I had photocopied my entire Citizenship Application, so I brought all that in a folder, along with my invitation letter, my original Confirmation of Permanent Residence (she checked this), my PR card...

Taking Child to the Citizenship Test

Re: Taking Child to the Citizenship Test - Ottawa We were allowed to hand in our test and leave as soon as we were done. I finished in 5 minutes or less but literally read every question and answer over again to double check, by which time others had started to hand theirs in and leave...

    Citizenship timeline from Ottawa

Application received Oct 2012, processing Feb 5, 2013, and I got my test invite sent out Dec 17 for Jan 8, 2014. Hang in there, you still have a bit of a wait.

Taking Child to the Citizenship Test

I didn't see any children there on Jan 8 when I wrote the test, but there's a sizable waiting area with chairs. In other words, if you have a friend or relative who can sit with the child for 30-60 minutes, it's not a hindrance to bring them along. I saw spouses and older relatives of test...
