I've been reading conflicting information about this. Some say you can ONLY stay for as long as 6 months on a visitor visa, have to go back to the US for a FULL 6 MONTHS before you can come back for another 6 months. Other say you can stay for a full 6 months, go back to the US for a few weeks...

What does OWP stand for please ?

So basically when the sponsored person is given the PR, can they APPLY TO ANY JOB just like a canadian would do ? (not need of "LMIA" ?)

I must be dense. I thought it took the sponsored person 3 years to actually GET the PR. Are you saying he is getting it RIGHT AS THE ARRIVE??? This is very confusing to me, sorry if I'm slower or more stupid than other people. Also, english is my 2nd language.

This thing doesnt make sense to me. It's written everywhere that if ever, you sponsor your common-law spouse, you are responsible for 3 years for them, and if they ever leave you and GET WELFARE, you would have to pay it back. HOW could a person who's not a canadian citizen could EVEN GET...

Can you explain what you mean by "provided he's in status"..... what does that mean concretely ? I dont understand. Like, that he has a 6-month vistor visa, his that being "in status" ?

When you say "showing how you will support yourself" do you men like, making a monthly budget saying, I'm paying 400$ rent, this for food, etc? I had never thought they would actually maybe give more if I had a spouse making no money at all. I guess I should call the Solidarité Sociale directly...
