If you provided an email address then PPR comes via email. I think everyone receives a COPR whether they send their actual passports or not.

Although they don't need the actual passport, in my case Im from a visa exempt country and they requested photocopies the same way they request the actual passport.

From what I understand they normally return your passport with the PR visa in your passport and COPR by mail as well. When you land and apply for your PR card it will come later.

I am from a Visa exempt country. They requested photocopies of my passport so I consider that the same as a PPR. I am in canada already with my wife visiting. Originally my application was in Ottawa and got transferred to LA in September 2013. I would say our cases are similar I terms of timeline.

Wow, thanks guys. Seems like they are taking longer than the 4-6months that it was. Do they notify you when they issue COPR. I'm assuming these timelines are when they are delivered to mailing address.

That's what I thought too because I did send photocopies with my initial application but they requested two photos along with my passport photocopies.
